Energy Saving Light Bulbs

We're not even going to include
incandescent bulbs in this posting
to avoid the obvious. When it comes
to energy saving light bulbs it really
boils down to just two choices. Should
I  buy CFLs or LEDs?  Both have
advantages. But as we compare these
two energy saving light bulbs in total
one stands out as the clear best choice,
LEDs. If all you were to consider when
shopping for energy saving light bulbs
was price then CFLs would be the easy pick.

At under $2 per bulb for some models the upfront cost is dramatically lower then that of most
LED light bulbs. But you'd be missing the whole point of buying energy saving light bulbs if
all you were to consider is cost of the bulbs. The real advantage to buying any energy saving
light bulb is how much energy savings it will provide you over the life of the bulb. This is the
big number that can total into the hundreds of dollars in savings per bulb. The upfront cost
soon takes a back seat as a less important footnote in your energy savings story.

As you can see from the following price comparison, when taking into account cost for bulbs
and subsequent energy savings, LEDs offer superior return on your investment. I love no risk
ROI, especially when companies like Cree are offering 10 year warranties. Before you phone in
your order for that booyah stock purchase, you may want to instead consider investing in
some energy savings for your home or business more...

CFLs contain poison (mercury) and underperform LEDs
Mercury is a proven cause of severe birth defects.
